Timmy McCarthy has been hailed as a revelation for the Paris games
A week has nearly gone by in the 2024 Olympic games with RTÉ providing hours upon hours of coverage yet some fans believe that the best part of their broadcast has been basketball commentator Timmy McCarthy.
He would then transcend the sport and become an Irish national treasure as an RTÉ commentator for multiple Olympic games, becoming the lead commentator for state broadcaster at the 2004 Athens Games.
