Spanish police have arrested an Irish gangland figure with links to The Family crime organisation after a major drugs bust in Alicante.
It is understood the criminal has close links with The Family, which has now surpassed the Kinahan cartel as the leading supplier of drugs in this country.READ MORE: Former top garda who led force’s effort against Kinahan cartel dies It is believed that the criminal, who has a number of convictions for drug offences in this country, left Ireland for Spain around three years ago. It is also believed that he feared he would be assassinated by rival gangsters after being warned by gardai that his life was in danger.
