Voter registration was open until Tuesday, with some fears that people would not register to vote because of the short timeframe between the general election being called and voting day.

Some 115,000 people registered to vote this month in the general election due to be held on Friday November 29.

In the final two days before registration closes, there were 55,000 new voter applications and over 21,000 update requests. Since the start of the year, 428,073 applications to register have been received, with an additional 225,383 applications to update or amend existing registration details.
