Authorities have warned people against extensive exposure and have advised that holidaymakers and locals alike avoid direct sunlight during the peak hours and be wary of their health
Temperatures in some holiday hotspots could reach as high as 40 degrees by the end of the week, as a blast of heat is expected to settle across the continent.
Spain has also issued a series of "severe high-temperature warnings" over the summer, with one currently in place as Valle del Tajo will see maximum temperatures of 40 degrees until August 7th. These bands of heat have been dubbed heat bombs, heat waves and more as the European continent grapples with high temperatures as the summer continues to unfold.
