Irish households waste €700 of food a year - Here's how to cut down

According to the EPA, the average Irish person wastes 146 kg of food every year - higher than the EU average of 130 kg.

The average Irish family wastes €700 worth of food every single year, the Environmental Protection Agency has estimated.

“Think about the environmental impact of that but also the cost to people’s pockets over what is already quite an expensive period. “Then, once you’ve had your big dinner and you have all of those leftovers, being a bit more creative about how you reuse them can really reduce your food waste.”Another way of cutting down on waste is to reuse leftovers whenever possible.
