The Dorn san Air festival in Gaoth Dobhair is searching for revolutionary bands and musicians for its 2026 Battle of the Bands competition, with €2,000 in prize money and an RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta broadcast up for grabs. Picture This celebrate a decade since Take My Hand with their first-ever official Irish-language version, Tóg Mo Lámh, and announce a winter tour across Ireland. Coloured mascara trends and Donegal-based knitwear brand Moss + Cable by Siobhan McKenna are also featured.

The Irish-language festival Dorn san Air, in collaboration with RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, has announced that it is searching for new revolutionary bands and musicians to perform a spectacular show in Gaoth Dobhair on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The Battle of the Bands competition, known as Cath na mBannaí, is a central part of the three-day festival and aims to keep alive the spark ignited by the legendary Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí while providing a platform for young musicians. The competition welcomes a diverse mix of bands and music styles, including original compositions as well as translated or adapted versions of songs written by others. English-language songs will not be permitted.

The winning act will receive a prize of €2,000 along with the opportunity to have their music broadcast on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta. The application deadline is September 20, 2026, and there is no fee to enter the competition. Picture This, one of Ireland's most successful pop bands of the past decade, is celebrating ten years since the release of their breakthrough single Take My Hand.

To mark this milestone, the band has released an official Irish-language version of the song for the first time, titled Tóg Mo Lámh. A vinyl record featuring five new versions of the track was released at the end of July, including a full Irish version, a remix by Madism, and a brand-new rendition titled Take My Hand (And We Can Go Walking).

Ryan Hennessy and Jimmy Rainsford, who originally hail from Ballyheigue in County Kerry, posted their first music video on Facebook in 2016 and quickly amassed millions of views. They went on to become one of the most popular pop bands in Ireland throughout the 2010s. To celebrate the anniversary, the band will embark on a special winter tour across Ireland with scheduled performances in Belfast, Drogheda, Wexford, Cork, Limerick, Sligo, Galway, and Derry.

As autumn officially arrives, beauty enthusiasts are embracing coloured mascara as a stylish alternative to traditional black shades. Coloured mascaras are said to complement different eye colours beautifully, with green tones suiting brown eyes, burgundy enhancing green eyes, and blue mascara offering a flattering look for virtually everyone. The trend allows for a subtle yet impactful change to one's morning routine without requiring a great deal of time or skill.

Meanwhile, Siobhan McKenna, the designer behind the Donegal-based knitwear brand Moss + Cable, has been highlighted for her stunning collection of cardigans and knitwear perfect for the transitional autumn weather. Each garment in the Moss + Cable range is suitable for both men and women and features carefully chosen colour palettes that reflect the season. All pieces are produced sustainably in southeast Donegal using soft, durable wool, making the brand a favourite for those seeking high-quality, locally made Irish knitwear.
