An anonymous Dublin Lotto winner plans to stay in his day job despite winning €6,756,855. Meanwhile, a Mayo man won €1,005,000 in the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle, having utilised the National Lottery app’s shake feature for his ticket.
The Dubliner, who wants to remain anonymous, won a staggering €6,756,855 million on the Lotto jackpot during the August 17 draw.
It wasn't until the following Tuesday after the draw that the winner realised his fortune. He said: “I saw an email saying I’d won over €100, so I thought, ‘class!’ But when I opened the app, it said I’d won €6.7 million. I was in complete denial until Martin from the Claims Department confirmed it—it was such a surreal moment.
He wasn't the only punter to collect big winnings at the Dublin offices today. A Mayo man, who won €1,005,000 in the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle on September 20, also picked up his fortune. He laughed: "I just gave my phone a shake, and the balls spun around, randomly picking my numbers. It was the second shake that landed me the million. I thought I’d only won €5,000 until I saw a picture in the news showing a person from the Lottery posing beside a ‘Welcome to Mayo’ sign with a €1 million cheque!"
