'Last year there were hundreds of them littered across the festival'
The Irish Minister hoping to ban disposable vapes countrywide has praised Electric Picnic organisers for outlawing them from the music festival this year.He took to Instagram to share his joy at the difference the ban made to his experience of Ireland's biggest music and arts event.
"You can still use reusable vapes," he added, highlighting a stall on the grounds where cartridges and everything needed to refill them were available to buy."We're going to change the laws about this but I'm glad Electric Picnic is taking the initiative." Sharing a picture from Flossie and the Beach Cleaners, he posted on his Instagram page, about how they found one at his "favourite swimming spots" - Seapoint Beach.It included options to ban the manufacture, sale and distribution of single-use vapes; to establish a deposit return scheme or no legislation change with improvements to the producer responsibility scheme.
IBAL's Conor Horgan warned: “This time last year we were not seeing this form of litter at all, so its rapid emergence is worrying. So, too, is its impact on our environment.
