Vile abuser Josephine McMahon (70), died of a suspected heart attack in hospital on Wednesday - several days after being transferred there from prison.

Sources have confirmed that McMahon, who was jailed to two and a half years in 2023 for the “heinous” abuse of two boys in Co Kerry 30 years ago, was transferred from the Dochas women's prison in Dublin to hospital over Christmas. It is understood she had been in poor health for some time - and she passed away in hospital on New Year's Day. It is likely she would have been released from prison later this year. Marcel Taret, 83, was the devoted carer for his wife Paulette Landrieux, who was battling Alzheimer's disease. On November 2, 2020, Marcel had briefly left Paulette alone to hang some laundry outside. He had settled her in front of the television with a nice lunch, expecting her to be still watching in her favourite programme upon his return. However, when he stepped back inside, she was nowhere to be found. Marcel's panic escalated as he searched every corner of their home in Andenne, Belgium, and even checked with the neighbours, but Paulette was nowhere to be seen. Marcel had almost accepted the grim possibility of never discovering his wife's fate. However, a remarkable twist of fate cracked the case wide open
