Super-stylist Francesca Burns, a former Vogue fashion editor recently made a passionate plea for the industry to look again at sample sizes

Top Irish models have opened up about the fear and pressure of fitting into tiny sample sizes and have called for the end of “one size fits all”.Sharing a photo of a “size 8 at the most” model with a pair of sample-sized Celine trousers pulled on that were too small, Fran posed the question: “Can we make our sample sizes bigger please?”

“It causes young girls to criticize and develop hate towards their own bodies, I find it extremely sad and heartbreaking when models are often left feeling unworthy when they don’t fit into the sample sizes.”“Especially as we mature and our bodies go through many changes. “But the Irish labels don’t tend to go that small with their samples. The international labels definitely have the tinier samples and I’m not sure why they go so small.”

“But we are lucky in Ireland that the Irish manufacturers, and the Irish designers, do not go to the miniscule sizes. They would be a size 8 which is a normal model size.
