An Irish mother has achieved a significant legal victory in her ongoing battle to regain custody of her two sons who were abducted in Egypt almost three years ago. The Cairo court ruled in favor of Mandy Kelly, ordering the immediate return of her six-year-old son Zayn and three-year-old son Kareem. The children were taken by Mandy's ex-husband during a family vacation in Egypt in March 2020. Since then, Mandy has been separated from her boys, unable to see or speak to them.Ms.
Kelly traveled to Cairo for the Christmas Day court hearing, but her mother-in-law, who is allegedly harboring the children, did not appear. The case proceeded without her presence, and the court issued the custody order in Mandy's favor. However, the Egyptian authorities have stated that they are currently unable to enforce the ruling because Mandy's mother-in-law has refused to disclose the children's whereabouts.Despite this setback, Mandy expressed optimism and gratitude for the court's decision. She expressed hope that the authorities would act swiftly to reunite her with her sons. She also thanked the Irish government, particularly Taoiseach Simon Harris, for their ongoing support and intervention in the case. Harris, who will assume the role of Minister for Foreign Affairs in the new government, has pledged to make the safe return of Mandy's children a top priority. The Irish public has also rallied behind Mandy, offering their prayers and support during this challenging ordeal
