Irish mum slams 'negative' words used by doctors when telling pregnant woman child has Down Syndrome

Ciara O’Hanlon, whose “adorable” daughter Seana is now three years old, said doctors need to use positive language when speaking with parents about the condition.

Down Syndrome Ireland marked the day by speaking out against “outdated attitudes” about the condition. Ms O’Hanlon said that when she was first told that Seana had Down Syndrome she didn’t know anything about the condition, and she worried about affect this life-changing news would have on her family.“When she was born and I met her, it was instant love, and the joy she has brought to our family has been amazing,” Ms O’Hanlon said.
