“He’s entitled to his opinion as to who it should be, I have to say it to be the same opinion as myself.Wood recalled when O’Gara first got the call to play for the Lions back when he played alongside him for Ireland. “It’s quite an Irish crew together, but yea I think that would be quite a nice mix with it because Lions is very different, you need to go on them, you need to try to be an assistant on them, you need to see what it takes and I remember even going back to 2001 when Ronan was picked on it," he added.
“He got a huge shock actually by the Lions. He was taken aback by the quality of the players, the quality of the preparation, the amount of work that some of the players did. “Johnny Wilkinson knocked ROG for six. I remember him coming back saying yeah, he wanted to do that again, he had seen the possibility of it, I think it pushed him onto a higher level.”
