Several Irish supermarket chains are to lower the price of their own-brand butter
SEVERAL IRISH SUPERMARKET chains are to lower the price of their own-brand butter, following reductions in the price of own-brand milk last week.
The Labour party said the price cuts demonstrated that Irish customers were being ripped off, and called the announcements a “race for publicity”.Labour finance and enterprise spokesperson Ged Nash described the move by some Irish supermarkets to reduce the price of milk as a “tacit acceptance that Irish consumers are being ripped off”.
“Butter is up 21% year on year, eggs are up 20%, vegetables up over 10% and it’s having a huge impact on working families nationwide.”
