An anonymous Irish teacher shares their experiences with the wild behavior of parents during school nativity plays, from accidents to competitive audition struggles.
A teacher in Ireland has anonymously spoken out about the outrageous behavior they've witnessed from parents during school nativity play s. They shared stories of a father falling on spectators after standing on a chair for a better view of his son and parents singing louder than their own children. After 20 years of teaching, the teacher knows that Christmas brings chaos to these events.
One particularly memorable incident involved a middle-aged father singing along to 'Little Donkey' while his son performed. He decided to stand on his seat, holding his scarf over his head, and when his son waved, the father's chair collapsed, sending him crashing into the woman in front of him, who in turn fell into the elderly woman behind her. The teacher's biggest problem, however, isn't the students, but the parents. They described parents as 'selfish, chaotic, pushy' and revealed that they become 'fiercely competitive' over their children's roles in the nativity. One mother insisted that her son, who volunteered as an angel, be recast as a shepherd, claiming it was a 'more manly role'. The teacher ultimately gave in, leaving the young boy 'utterly crestfallen'
