Sophie Lennon, from Mayobridge in Co Down, is the first person from Northern Ireland to be chosen to fly out and perform on America's Got Talent and the second person across the isle of Ireland.
A talented Co Down teenager has opened up about her excitement and “shock” at being the first person from Northern Ireland to be a contestant on America’s Got Talent.
The 14-year-old said: “I can’t believe I’m actually writing this post but I can finally share with you all after keeping it secret for so long that I’m going to be on this season of America’s Got Talent. It's been an absolutely crazy whirlwind 6 months. Sophie added that it is a “privilege” to be “the first person ever from Northern Ireland to be chosen to perform on the biggest talent show in the world.”
Having sung since she was a child, Sophie's mum Theresa credits a viral video on Belfast Live when Sophie was just 10 for kick-starting the teen's career. This has seen her represent Ireland at Junior Eurovision, star on the West End, and perform across the globe. "It was such a class experience. To be chosen to have her audition be aired on TV is just incredible."
