Ireland could see a dramatic drop in temperatures over the coming weeks, with weather maps predicting a plunge of 15C within just six days.
This comes as hopes for next week's 'Indian summer' grow, with Met Eireann promising "a good deal of dry weather with high pressure building". An ‘Indian summer’ refers to a spell of unusually warm, dry weather that occurs in autumn, providing a brief but welcome respite before winter sets in. The national forecaster said next week will be "broadly settled" and "drier than normal", with "temperatures expected to be above average".
While Donegal is the only county currently under an official warning, Met Eireann has also advised neighbouring counties in the west and northwest to also brace for significant rainfall and possible flooding.
