Irish youngster earning rave reviews for performances with Liverpool youth team

Trent Kone-Doherty is a name Ireland fans will hopefully be hearing plenty about in the future.

Republic of Ireland youngster Trent Kone-Doherty earned heaps of praise from his manager after his superb goal kept Liverpool's UEFA Youth League hopes alive.

But with 83 minutes on the clock, former Derry City man Kone-Doherty, who has been capped 11 times as u19 level for Ireland, showed his class to hold off his marker before slotting home a vital equaliser for Liverpool. The draw takes them to eight points from their six league-phase fixtures and must now wait to see if that total is sufficient to finish in the top 22, which is rewarded with progress to the first knockout round.
