Michael Ryan had worked as an engineer with the World Food Programme on projects in the developing world
The Irish person who was among the 157 people who were on board the Ethiopian Airlines flight which crashed this morning has been named as Michael Ryan.
There have been no survivors after the Boeing 737, which was carrying 149 passengers and eight crew members crashed shortly after take off. The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has also said this evening that his thoughts are with the families of all those lost in the crash. Belgium, Indonesia, Somalia, Norway, Serbia, Togo, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda and Yemen each had one citizen onboard.
He said the aircraft involved had flown from Johannesburg this morning, while the pilot was senior with more than 8000 flying experience.
