The Nuggets are closing in on a championship, and their postseason dominance has been quite a statement. Could they be the next NBA dynasty? johnhollinger weighs in:

, who between them will make $4.5 million next year; both are signed through 2026. Braun, 22, is already a key rotation player and likely to take over Brown’s sixth man role; Watson is only 20 and was on the verge of cracking the rotation late in the season as a defensive specialist.

Those types of players are often expensive in free agency, but Denver drafted two of them and has them locked up for three more years. It would shock nobody if the Nuggets exclusively draft players between 6-foot-5 and 6-foot-9 the next two years. That takes us to the other piece of Denver’s long term: The trade the Nuggets reportedly agreed to on Friday with.

The “if not conveyed” part of that comes with a bit of risk for Oklahoma City — the Nuggets already owe protected firsts in 2025 and 2027, and if either protection kicks in, it’s possible the pick to Oklahoma City wouldn’t convey until 2030, or never. However, one of the future picks is owed to the Thunder already, in either 2027, 2028 or 2029; it’s quite possible the two sides rewrote the protections on the pick to make it more certain the Thunder end up with two firsts.
