Fans have taken a holiday video from series creator Mike White as a clue
This man knows how to craft a mystery. With White’s love of breadcrumbing clues throughout the series it’s hard not to jump to conclusions and take this as a hint. Has he combined a holiday with a recce?: “I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.”
And while it looks like he’s staying in an upmarket hotel in Phuket, there’s plenty more of the country to explore, such as Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and the capital, Bangkok. As the previous two series have been set in off-season Four Seasons hotels – transformed into 'The White Lotus' resorts – if the production has a special arrangement with the hotel brand, then there’s four of the hotels across the country to choose from.
However, if you’re currently reading this on a 5-star holiday in Phuket, you might want to keep your conversation down on the waiter-attended beach… you never know who might be listening in for character inspiration.
