The court also ordered Israel to keep open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza, which it closed earlier this month at the start of its assault on the city. Meanwhile, Israeli forces stepped up military strikes on Gaza, with heavy fighting reported in Jabalia in the north and tanks pushing further into Rafah in the south.
