Israel Katz said that the 'hypocrisy' of Ireland and other countries 'will be exposed if they refuse' Palestinian refugees
Israel ’s Defence Minister warned that Ireland will be “legally obligated” to accept Palestinian refugees.
During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, he labelled Gaza's condition as unliveable and suggested a search for an alternative habitat. He said: “I have instructed the IDF to prepare a plan that will allow any resident of Gaza who wishes to leave to do so, to any country willing to receive them. The plan will include exit options via land crossings, as well as special arrangements for departure by sea and air.
Ireland, Norway and Spain all recognised the State of Palestine on the same day in May 2024, which irked the Israeli Government and has led to deep criticism of Ireland. Shortly after the recognition, Israel summoned Ambassador Dana Erlich home.
