It’s believed that the relative silence around Griner’s case — who is one of the most accomplished players in the history of women’s basketball — has been to avoid inflaming. But after weeks of silence, Griner’s teammates are no longer staying tight-lipped.
“People are saying she’s 6-foot-9, she’s different. A statement from the Russian Federal Customs Service did not name Griner but said an American was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport after being found with hash oil. They added that the offence carries a potential punishment of five to 10 years in prison, per
