Niamh De Brún walked away on Friday night as the Fashion Over 100k InstaStar at this year’s Hayu STELLAR InstaStar Awards.

“My Monday to Friday is me in my gym gear,” she tells us. “I love the training and the fitness, that’s a big part of who I am. ” She continues: “I love working out and I love how it makes me feel. It’s great for my head.

Signing up for Tryka is a real challenge because I’m not a runner. TRYKA is essential a running race so it’s difficult but I’m really enjoying the challenge of it. ”Yes, she’ll be taking part in the upcoming TRYKA race in October. TRYKA is an Irish-founded alternative to HYROX, featuring shorter running distances, unique station variations like RamThrusters instead of wall balls, and a 40m sprint finish.

“Harper is in her last year of preschool so she’ll start primary school next year. I’m not looking forward to it because I was a mess when she was going to preschool,” she tells us with a smile. Speaking about making sure that balances her time with both babas equal, she explains: “Harper was my first baby, and with your first, it’s all new and it’s all special. You can give them so much attention.

“Then Séan Óg came along and he just slotted in. It is nice to have that one-to-one time with him that Harper got. Now he gets to have it as well because you want to be fair to both of them. ” Another thing she is passionate about balancing her time with is making sure she gets a workout in.

And she urges other mams to make sure to prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing.

“Don’t put pressure on yourself, just go and enjoy it. Don’t have an expectation that you’re going to be the fittest person in the class,” she advises of getting back to working out.

“Gyms can be very scary places if you’re not used to going. I used to be one of those people who was intimidated walking in. But you only get better at that the more you do it. It’s like exposure therapy.

You keep needing to do it.

“I would always recommend to mams to go and have that alone time. Exercise releases endorphins; it has so many health benefits other than just getting everyone to lift weights! ”
