The victim was in the process of moving in to his new home.
William Gallagher-Bain, 19, stabbed Lee McLaughlin, 39, outside his home in Glasgow's Gallowgate on August 8, 2022.Gallagher-Bain and friends spoke with McLaughlin while doing so.
Prosecutor John Bedford said:"This escalated into a physical fight due to Mr McLaughlin making attempts to speak to Gallagher-Bain's girlfriend. "Gallagher-Bain then reached into his trousers and produced a knife with a yellow handle before lunging forward.The attacker put the knife away as the victim ran into the building.Gallagher-Bain got rid of the knife which was never recovered.Mr McLaughlin suffered grazes and bruises but did not require medical treatment.The victim kicked back before the pair exchanged blows.
Gallagher-Bain is then seen to take the knife out and make jabbing motions towards where Mr McLaughlin was stood.Jim Rhodes, defending, told a hearing that Gallagher-Bain's partner is expecting a baby with a due date on Christmas Day."After the initial skirmish, he walks away and a hand is seen out of a window."He didn't have a blade in his pocket with the intention of it being used - it was handed to him.
