Sir Bobby Charlton passed away this afternoon at the age of 86.
The football world is in mourning today at the sad news that Manchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Robson has passed away at the age of 86.
Jack Charlton famously managed the Republic of Ireland side during the glory years of the 1980's and 1990's, and guided Ireland to qualification for Euro '88, Italia '90 and USA '94. Almost 30 years on since his last game in charge of the Boys in Green, Irish fans still pine for the days when Ireland went toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the World.
"My wife is a very strong character and does not suffer fools gladly. I am not suggesting my mother was a fool."Jack came out in the newspapers saying things about my wife that were absolutely disgraceful. Nonsense.” That December, Bobby Charlton was honoured at the BBC Sports Personality Awards with a lifetime achievement gong. To the surprise of many, Jack appeared on stage to say some kind words in honour of his brother.
