As the Jaguars return to action Sunday, rookie linebacker Chad Muma is ready to take a larger role in the defense.
Though Muma hasn't played a lot of snaps on defense this year, he was able to get the majority of the starting reps at LB with Lloyd out due to a hamstring injury. That continued into the preseason, too. Those reps, and practice during the regular season, have helped get Muma acclimated to the speed of the game.
Jaguars veteran LB Foye Oluokun has seen the progress Muma has put on display throughout the season on the practice field. Now, it's all about growth, Oluokun said about the third-round rookie. If Muma is in line for more opportunities, Oluokun will be his running mate. Still, he will need to continue communicating with Lloyd, who will likely remain on the field more than Muma as Jacksonville continues to figure out the rep split.
