Available to watch on the first day of 2023, Kaleidoscope is a new anthology series created by Eric Garcia for Netflix. The show was formerly titled Jigsaw due to its unique puzzle-like format, as each viewer will experience the first season in a different order. Yet, no matter what point in time they begin the 25-year-long heist, all audience members are meant to reach the same conclusion by Kaleidoscope's finale.
Screen Rant chats with stars Courtney and Elbay about the behind-the-scenes challenges of filming a non-linear series as well as the stunt work required to create the heist. Rosaline Elbay: My first exposure to it was sort of through the writing and talking to the showrunner. I was like, "Oh, my God. As writers, what a challenge to set up for yourself—to have every episode have to work as a pilot and the problem-solving in that." I was really intrigued by it. Later down the line, I realized, wait, as an actor, that means that so many things that I would rely on usually is...you kind of try and direct yourself a little bit.
Jai Courtney: I think you just have to stay true to what you know to be the chronology. But in saying that, you have to take care with some of the details. It's one of those things where if there's something you need to land at a certain point, but not overdo, you want to make sure that it finds its way in. We would have to stay on each other a little bit. It kept us on our toes with certain stuff, just jumping around so much.
