Sadibou Sy scores early Knockout of the Year contender much to Jake Paul's delight
The 2022 welterweight champion continued his title defence when he squared off against Australian fighter Shane Mitchell at PFL 6 in Atlanta on Friday night.After nearly landing a spinning wheel kick in round one, Sy threw it again in the final frame, but this time it connected with the side of Mitchell’s head and sent him crashing to the canvas.
Rather than follow his opponent to the floor and land unnecessary ground strikes, Sy slowly walked towards him to give the referee ample time to step in and save Mitchell from further punishment. That’s exactly what happened, and Sy will now advance to the 2023 PFL playoffs and face Carlos Leal whom he beat on his way to the welterweight title and $1million prize last year.
Jake Paul was quick to react to the epic knockout on social media as he shared cageside footage alongside the caption: “I TOLD YALL SADIBOU SY WAS A MONSTER!!!!”
