Will James Gunn Helm Another MCU Project After GOTG 3? Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is currently set to be Gunn's final foray into the MCU, with the marketing for the film driving home its status as the trilogy finisher and final ride for the team. Gunn has previously stated that he mainly returned to the MCU for the third installment in order to finish Rocket Raccoon's storyline due to the filmmaker feeling particularly connected to that character. Since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
In terms of other MCU projects, it's unlikely that Gunn will take on another film or television series for Marvel any time soon given his recent hiring as the co-CEO and co-chair of DC Studios. Despite the amicable relationship between Marvel head Kevin Feige and his new competitor Gunn, the filmmaker's position effectively shuts down the possibility of a new MCU project from Gunn since his focus will be elsewhere.
