Ratcatcher 2 actor Daniela Melchior and her stunt double look like the Shining Twins, according to The Suicide Squad director James Gunn. 2021’s Suicide Squad follow-up afforded the ever-quirky Gunn the opportunity to introduce multiple oddball DC Comics characters to the DCEU. But one of the movie’s most memorable characters is actually someone with no comic book history at all.
There is obviously a DC character named Ratcatcher who primarily serves as an enemy of Batman. But when it came time to create The Suicide Squad, Gunn decided to change things up by introducing a gender-swapped new Ratcatcher, played by Melchior . Depicted as an ever-sleepy young woman with the ability to control rats, the newly-created Ratcatcher II ultimately became a fan-favorite.
Indeed the Grady girls from The Shining likely would have to be regarded as the creepiest set of twins in movie history. Ratcatcher II actress Melchior and her stunt double Katie may not be quite as unsettling as Kubrick’s twins, but there’s no question they do give off a little bit of a spooky vibe in Gunn’s image from the Panama set of The Suicide Squad. Hopefully both will get a chance to do more ratcatching work in the DCEU in the not-too-distant future.
