James Martin has opened up about his weight loss journey, revealing the 'simple' diet trick that helped him shed three stone - and keep it off - after his Strictly Come Dancing debut
James Martin , the star of ITV's Saturday Morning show, has revealed his secret to losing three stone - eating fish twice a day.
Kristen Smith, a registered dietitian and spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, agrees that fish is a good choice for those looking to lose weight. She said: "Most fish are high in protein but contain fewer calories than other protein sources, like poultry or beef. Protein-rich foods can help increase satiety and prevent overeating at or between meals. Moreover, many fish are also loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, an essential nutrient that promotes heart and brain health.
It comes after James revealed that he no longer eats "Mars bars and fizzy soft drinks". He added: "We might admire the Mediterranean diet but we don't eat the way the French, Spanish or Italians eat." According to the NHS, a Mediterranean diet focuses on plant foods like fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, nuts, seeds, and pulses, like, beans, chickpeas and lentils.
He binned butter while on Strictly and by the time his run on the competition came to an end, James had lost a staggering five stone. The TV star has now embraced butter again, and even wrote a book about it called Butter: Comforting, Delicious, Versatile – Over 130 Recipes Celebrating Butter.
