Jamie Theakston has opened up about being diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer. The much-loved Heart Radio presenter, age 53, has been noticeably missing from the airwaves on his breakfast slot alongside Britain's Got Talent's Amanda Holden, as he was facing difficulty with his voice.
He continued: "So I have cancer but cancer doesn't have me! The prognosis is very positive and I'm hoping to be back with you in October. Until then, I've been told to give my voice a rest and leave you in the mostly capable hands of JK and Amanda." JK also expressed optimism regarding Jamie's recovery: "Jamie has an amazing team that are going to get this sorted. He's going to be OK, he's hoping to be back with us very soon," and reminded how Jamie has consistently been a source of positivity for morning listeners.Devoted listeners of the Heart Radio Breakfast Show quickly took to social media to manifest their support for Jamie.
Jamie made a name for himself as the host of Top of the Pops from 1998 to 2003, where he introduced big names like the Spice Girls and Oasis on the BBC programme. However, his career actually kicked off at the tender age of 23 in radio.
