Jamie's latest single is out today
Jamie Webster has sent a message to his critics after receiving a ‘week of abuse’ online. The singer-songwriter has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years from the Liverpool pub circuit to Champions League Finals and Glastonbury. Jamie’s most recent show was his biggest yet, as over 30,000 saw him live in Sefton Park, with a star-studded cast of extras including Ricky Tomlinson, Dave McCabe from the Zutons and Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen.
So when we went into the studio to do it, I pitched it to Rich and he loved it. We wrote, recorded the whole song in four hours. It was just a mad sort of moment where you're just inspired. The song is a departure from Jamie’s usual style, influenced by spoken word, New York new wave and hip-hop influences. When he released a clip from the song last week on social media, it received a lot of negative comments. Jamie feels like a lot of the criticism went too far.
