The appeal for Jay Slater's family has now raised more than £53,000 with the funds raised to be used to support the teenager's family in the Canary Islands as well as to pay for search efforts
The GoFundMe appeal set up for the family of Jay Slater has seen donations surge following the discovery of a body in Tenerife.
Earlier today, Spanish authorities confirmed that a body they suspect to be that of the missing apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle has been discovered, leading to a flurry of fresh contributions. If it is indeed confirmed to be Jay, his family will then bear the financial burden of repatriating his remains back to the UK.
"Everything is pointing to the body being that of the young British man who disappeared on June 17, pending full identification. Initial inquiries are pointing to him having suffered an accident/fall in the area where he was found.", reports Lancs Live.
