The family of Jay Slater have appealed for privacy as the search for the missing 19-year-old moves into a new stage
The family of 19-year-old Jay Slater have slammed the "vile" comments and unfounded theories popping up across social media and TikTok.
In a heartfelt plea on Tuesday night, Jay's mum updated everyone on the case and asked for the media and public to give space to the Spanish police as they continue their work looking for the British teenager. Jay Slater's family statement in full “My son, Jay Dean Slater, came to the holiday island of Tenerife on June 13 with his friend to attend a music festival. On June 17, after not returning to his apartment, he was reported as a missing person.
"Although the land search ended, the Spanish police still continue with their investigations into why Jay had travelled to the location so far away from his accommodation. We offer our sincere thanks to the Spanish authorities who continue to follow lines of enquiries.
