Jeep is significantly rejigging the Compass’s engine lineup for 2023 with a de-tuned version of the 2.0-liter turbo engine from the upcoming Dodge Hornet.drops the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine that makes 177 hp and 172 pound-feet of torque in favor of the 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged inline four that delivers 200 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque, an increase of 23 hp and 49 lb-ft respectively.
The new 2.0L turbo that’s standard across the range is paired to an eight-speed transmission while Jeep has also dropped the front-wheel drive model. Other changes for the Compass that received mid-cycle refresh about a year ago include new 17 inch wheels and standard automatic high-beam headlamps for Sport and Latitude models.
All five different 4×4 trim configurations, including the Sport, Latitude LUX, Limited and the rugged Trail Rated Trailhawk are available now for order and will begin arriving in showrooms during the first quarter of 2023.
