Jennifer Aniston, 53, Details ‘Challenging Road’ With IVF and Fertility: ‘The Ship Has Sailed’
star kept her fertility and IVF journey under wraps for years. Now, at 53, she’s opening up about the trying period in her life, saying she has nothing to hide.
“I would say my late 30s, 40s, I’d gone through really hard sh*t, and if it wasn’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be,” she said in a new interview withShe added that she exhausted all of her options to become a mom. And on top of the media constantly analyzing her for a “baby bump,” critics called her selfish for not having kids and focusing on her career.“God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child.
“All the years and years and years of speculation... It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,” she continued. “I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”
Although it’s not the outcome she initially hoped for, today, Aniston can honestly say she has no regrets. “I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about that anymore,” she added. This may be the first time she’s spoken this candidly on the topic, but, on multiple occasions, she has openly criticized the public for assuming they had the right to access her personal journey.
