Hollywood star Jeremy Renner is in a critical but stable condition after he suffered an accident while ploughing snow.
The actor, who plays superhero Clint Barton in the Marvel films and mini-series Hawkeye, sustained injuries in the weather-related incident over the New Year weekend and was airlifted to hospital.
In a statement released yesterday to the Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson for Renner said: "We can confirm Jeremy is in a critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while ploughing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care."Renner, 51, has been nominated for two Oscars during his career for his performances in 2008 war thriller The Hurt Locker and 2010 crime drama The Town.
The Californian owns a ranch above Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains, which has been battered with a "blizzard of the century" in recent weeks. The area was massively impacted by a storm that left 35,000 households without power in the Northern Nevada counties Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Storey and Lyon, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
The actor took to Twitter on December 13 to comment on the freak conditions, posting a picture of snow in the area and writing: "Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke."
