The Donegal boss watched his side win 6-5 on penalties in Clones on Sunday

Jim McGuinness paid tribute to Armagh after the Orchard County lost their third Championship penalty shootout in as many years on Sunday.

McGuinness expressed sympathy with Armagh after the game and said he was "immensely proud" of his own team. Kieran McGeeney's side lost 4-1 on penalties to Galway at the All-Ireland quarter-final stage in 2022 before losing 3-1 to Derry in the Ulster final 12 months ago.Former Celtic performance consultant and youth coach McGuinness said after the game: "It is very simple... You have to just keep going, keep believing and trust the process. I am immensely proud of them.

"I really feel for Armagh. I spoke to Kieran before the penalties started... I really feel for Armagh. They are a brilliant team, they are such competitors. We ended up on the right side of it today and it so easily could have been the other way around." "You have got to hand it to the man," Canavan said. "The biggest testament you could say about McGuinness and this squad is when they were in trouble today, they never stopped battling, they never stopped trying.
