The President's visit is not being taken lightly, with Gardaí warning people in Dublin, Louth and Mayo to expect road closures and restrictions as tight security measures kick in.
US President Joe Biden is in Dublin on Thursday after a hectic day of engagements on Wednesday.delivered a passionate speech in Belfast as he embarked on a four-day visit of Ireland before heading south to Dublin Airport and later Louth to visit some of his distant relatives.
President Biden landed at Dublin Airport at around 3.15pm. He met the Taoiseach on the tarmac before chatting to US Embassy staff and their children at the Fire Services hangar at the Airport.where he first went to Carlingford and later Dundalk, interacting with locals and his cousins, including Irish rugby star Rob Kearney.
On Thursday, Biden will meet President Michael D Higgins in the Áras as well as the Taoiseach in a more formal setting at Farmleigh House.
