Joe Biden's son Beau told his dad 'I’m not afraid. I’m okay' before he tragically died on May 30, 2015, of brain cancer, today marks the ninth anniversary of his death
Joe Biden recalled the heartbreaking final moments he spent with his son Beau before his death - after reassuring his dad "I'll be okay."
Speaking to family members who have lost loved ones in service, Biden spoke of his own loss in Beau, who served in Iraq and died from brain cancer that the president attributes to his time stationed near toxic burn pits. "Our losses are not the same. He didn’t perish on the battlefield. He was a cancer victim as a consequence of being in the army in Iraq for a year next to a burn pit. A major of the U.S.
He continued: “It was at the very end. His brother was sitting there, the three of us were holding hands and wanted to reassure us .” Despite the loss of his son, Biden admitted Beau is always with him - thanks to his grandkids. “What I do is I look at my grandson — his son — and I see him", he said. "I look at my granddaughter, I see her. And I know ’s still here. He’s still with me.”
