Joe Canning isn't fazed by critiquing and talking about his former teammates and players he would have played against after joining The Sunday Game panel.
"It is very important for me to be as honest as I can and I am not going to be one of those people who is too dramatic or makes things up just to be relevant. Joe's brother Ollie was an analyst with Sky Sports for a number of years too, but he didn't seek out any advice from him. "There are only 10 or 12 teams playing for the Liam MacCarthy Cup. The club season should be at the start of the year followed by the intercounty championships."I would be all for combining the league and championship, but who am I to tell the GAA what to do?"Joe said: "Going by the National Hurling League, you are always 70 minutes away from another perspective, if you get one big win people’s views will change. But is that realistic? I don’t know.
He said: "You can see it with all the coverage they get now. One thing that could progress it further would be if the Camogie Association and the LGFA joined the GAA.
