Tributes have begun to pour in following the sad news that write and broadcaster Kathleen Watkins, wife of Late Late Show legend Gay Byrne, has sadly passed away at the age of 90
Tributes have began to flood in for Kathleen Watkins, after the news of her passing was announced earlier today.
Tributes have already began to pour in, with RTE Liveline presenter Joe Duffy taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to write: "I am deeply saddened, she was a dear, kind, generous, witty, wise and learned friend. She loved life, poetry but above all her family R.I.P." Former RTE correspondent Ingrid Miley wrote: "So sad to hear then news of Kathleen Watkins passing. A lovely woman who was always supportive to younger staff members starting out in RTÉ. My sincere condolences to her family and friends."
In a statement, he said: "Kathleen Watkins was part of Ireland's unique broadcasting history, and indeed of RTÉ. She was among our first continuity announcers. She was an actor, a musician, and an author. And of course she was a presenter.
