St Pat's first two goals - Mark Doyle and a Krystian Nowak own goal - came from Jake Mulraney free-kicks that the Gypsies failed to deal with
Drenched in champagne and beer, a beaming Jon Daly lobbed an unlikely hat-tip at the Korean third division for its role in St Pat’s FAI Cup final success.
“We are the best in the league at them - that's a fact,” he said, proud as punch. “We do a lot of work on them and it's a credit to Sean O'Connor. Just three minutes into the second-half, Nowak put through his own net under ferocious pressure from Saints captain Joe Redmond at the back post. Daly’s wife and daughters still live in Scotland, so his commitment to this job cannot be questioned.
“It would have been very easy to say no, if I didn't believe in them. I could have jumped on a plane and gone back home to my family and try to get a job closer to home.It took St Pat’s 53 years to end their famous FAI Cup final curse in 2014, and this is their third success in the competition since then.
“But you could get used to that, to playing in front of that every week. Fair play to both sets of fans for putting on the atmosphere that they did.
