Rahm said TGL 'would require a level of commitment that I can't offer.'
TGL, the new tech-infused golf league led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has already lost a golfer before its first season begins. Jon Rahm, the reigning Masters champion, announced his departure from TGL on social media Thursday. Here’s what you need to know: “While I still think it’s a great opportunity, right now it would require a level of commitment that I can’t offer,” Rahm said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rahm has remained faithful to the PGA Tour through the turf war with LIV Golf but has never been remotely as outspoken against LIV as some of his contemporaries, notably McIlroy. He said in June he was “blindsided” by the tour’s decision to partner with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund in a commercial business arrangement that will include LIV as a property. He said, “I think the general feeling is that a lot of people feel a bit of betrayal from management.
