Longtime JonahHex writer Jimmy Palmiotti wants HBO Max to adapt his comics into a TV show. 'Seriously, make the scar smaller, focus on after the war adventures, and hire us to consult'

Long time Jonah Hex writer thinks that the character would make for a perfect HBO Max series. Introduced in All-Star Western #10 in 1972, Jonah Hex has been a popular anti-hero in comics taking place in the old west of the DC Universe, a contrast to many superhero comics. The character has appeared in numerous adaptations including Justice League Unlimited, Legends of Tomorrow, and was the star of his own movie in 2010 where he was played by Josh Brolin.

One of the most iconic Jonah Hex writers is Jimmy Palmiotti, who wrote a large number of Jonah Hex comics for DC. His tenure on the book lasted from January 2006 to August 2011, just before the launch of DC New 52. He, alongside writer Justin Gray and artist Tony DeZuniga, wrote the 2010 graphic novel Jonah Hex: No Way Back, which received critical acclaim in contrast to the Jonah Hex film that the graphic novel was intended to release alongside.

Why @wbpictures doesn't take our DONE -IN-ONE stories of JONAH HEX we wrote for the series [ 70] & not make a weekly series for @hbomaxmovies is a mystery to me.RT if you want this pic.twitter.com/zQgDvCE8odWesterns have seen a rise in popularity on television in the 2010s. Yellowstone has become one of the most popular series on television, and Paramount+ just released a spin-off prequel series 1883.

While series like Doom Patrol and Titans are not set in the DCEU, a series like Jonah Hex so far removed from the main timeline offers creators a chance to explore an unseen era of the DCEU. Aside from the war for the mother boxes seen in both versions of Justice League and the history of Atlantis in Aquaman, the farthest back the DCEU goes is the first Wonder Woman set during World War 1.
