The Northern-Irishman is into his first ranking semi-final since 2021.
Jordan Brown is a step closer to a first ranking title since 2021 after he defeated Scotland’s Stephen Maguire to book a semi-final spot at the International Championship in the Chinese city of Tianjin.
The Antrim native has enjoyed a superb week with victories over multiple ranking event winners Kyren Wilson, John Higgins and now Stephen Maguire. Brown looked to be cruising ito the semi-finals as he established a comfortable 5-2 lead despite the players going into the mid-session interval at two-frames all. Maguire rallied after the break and scored his 500th century break as a professional in frame 10 to join an exclusive club with just 12 other members. This forced the match into a deciding frame. The deciding frame started in edgy fashion before Brown managed to hold his nerve and compile a 57 break that was enough to seal victory.
It's the first time Brown has made it to a ranking semi-final since he shocked the snooker world by winning the Welsh Open in 2021. He could be on a collision course with the man he beat in that final, Ronnie O'Sullivan. The Rocket faces Ali Carter later this morning with the winner facing either Ding Junhui or Zhang Anda in the other semi-final.
