Who is the man at the helm of the National Party - and for how much longer will he hang onto it?
Justin Barrett bagged a total of 183 votes during his first and only attempt to get elected to the Dáil.
As the leader of the National Party, he ran as an “insurgent candidate” in the Dublin Bay South by-election in 2021 caused by the resignation of Eoghan Murphy, the former Minister for Housing. Barrett finished well out of contention with his 183 votes, as Ivana Bacik, the current Labour leader, took the seat. The election return filed by the National party shows that it spent €2,557 on his by-election campaign.
